Took my 14 year old son to this screening. Today was his last day of middle school and I think this is the first rated R film I’ve ever taken him to see in the theater. A perfect film for such an occasion. This story has major Stephen King vibes, with adolescent protagonists, children going missing with a supernatural slant. It’s based on a book by Joe Hill who everyone knows is Stephen King’s son. (I actually just found that…
Jurassic World III: Locust Focused
(Updated thoughts below)
Starting with the positives, there are some moments here that I really loved. I think the feathered dinos look spectacular and the effects and set pieces for the most part are very good. Dr. Ian Malcolm has some classic quippy moments and in general it was nice to see Dern, Neill and Goldblum on screen together again.
End of positives. (For more positives, please check out @Shreesh’s Review who’s take on films…
Watched this with my oldest son. Love this movie. Iconic in so many ways. One of the best creature designs ever put to film. Incredibly quotable one liners. Magnificent score from Alan Silvestri. The roided out cast (including two former governors). It’s essentially a perfect action movie. My son Jackson really enjoyed and he had fun pointing out several things referenced by Strangers Things. R.I.P. Jim Hopper. Endlessly rewatchable film.

As kind of a middle ground between the YA Maze Runner franchise and the hard R Saw franchise, Escape Room offers a really fun option for pseudo horror/thriller that’s still tame enough for the entire family. My youngest had to move to sit closer to me, but I don’t believe he ever needed to close his eyes. The trap here are imaginative and fun, particularly the upside down pool hall was really cool and makes for some awesome visuals they…
I was dubious. Thought for sure the hype for this had to be overblown. A scientological conspiracy perhaps. But…..this movie is fkn awesome. Literally everything is firing on all cylinders. The story is excellent, the action and dogfights are captured incredibly. The callbacks to the original are meaningful but they don’t overdo it. Really good from top to bottom and in my opinion exceeds the original in nearly every way thanks to a truly excellent script. The stakes are raised…
Did really did not care for most of this show even if the finale nearly saves it. There is plenty of good in the series. Ewan reprises his role effectively and it’s clear that he really loves this character. The final duel between Vader and Obi-Wan is excellent and in my opinion much more cinematic than their duel on Mustafar. Aside from that though, there wasn’t much else that felt very compelling from a story perspective and so much of…
