A Quiet Place Part II

A Quiet Place Part II ★★½

Disappointed by how purely transitional this feels. I completely get the need to set up a third film and beyond, but each one should still have full distinct character and plot arcs - this sequel, on the other hand, feels like it covers the ground one might find in a mid season television episode, not necessarily a full feature length film. It's a technically well made but emotionally truncated affair, relying heavily on logical oversights and nonsensical character decisions and punctuated by an all too abrupt ending. It makes me look back on the first film even more fondly, which saw this burgeoning franchise at its best and smartest when it was at its simplest. It also actually gave Emily Blunt much more to do.
