As a musical, it’s not good. As a movie, it’s even worse. I could more easily forgive the awful filmmaking and narrative if even the musical sequences didn’t feel like everyone was sleepwalking through them. The only sequences with some kind of life are “Dancing Queen” and the extremely fun “Super Trouper” end credits. Everything else makes the first film look even better in retrospect. At least Amanda Seyfried exists.
I’m by no means Meryl Streep’s biggest fan, but this movie needed more of her and less of Cher + the boring young versions of all the characters.
