Kevin Levine’s review published on Letterboxd:
If I'm wrong for thinking Saw II is a slight improvement over the first Saw, then I don't want to be right. Saw was extremely original, but I actually think that Saw II is more violent and clever. Saw II has more unpredictable twists in its plot and, in my opinion, has more convincing characters than the original thanks to slightly better performances. I'm still excited to see where this franchise goes leading up to Jigsaw.
