    Poltergeist II: The Other Side

Though the ‘Spielbergian’ touch is without a doubt missed, there are still some fun sequences here, including a bit with braces and a tequila worm that Craig T Nelson has to barf up because it makes him a horndog.

As fun as those sequences are however, the truth is if there was ever a time the non presence of a producer and director are felt, it is here. As without Spielberg and without Hooper, Poltergeist II, though every bit as monstrous as the first film, just feels kind of.....there.

A perfect horror film with an amazing payoff, proving that Black Phillip didn't curse this script or direction.

I really respect movies that have the nerve to not over complicate their plot in order to build fake tension. That make its protagonist someone who we get to know not through unreal situations, but interactions with other characters. That builds to a conclusion that isn't a 'happy ever after' scenario as much as a new beginning.

Needless to say, I respect Eighth Grade A LOT.
