9.8 - Upon the second viewing, Midsommar proves to be an instant contemporary cult classic.
Enjoyment: 5/5 | Quality: 4.8/5
Before going into this film for the second time, I was weary and hesitant. "Will it be better or will it completely fall apart and I was with the hype?" Fortunately, it was the former.
Packed with so many subtle details, the film improves upon a second watch. I have the time to soak in and appreciate the camera work, the score, and cinematography, which I did not do in my first viewing because I was trying to follow the storyline. Everything about this is beautiful, from the opening mural to the final frame. Midsommar is haunting, unsettling and hypnotic.
