The World's End

This is a really great movie that I feel is unfortunately held back by its ending and a poorly resolved personal conflict.

I really enjoyed Wright's style and humor. His and Simon Pegg's writing really made the group dynamic work. However, I wish we got to see more of it before the alien aspect took full reign. The conflict between Pegg and Frost's characters was unfortunately muddled by the action. They briefly squabble about it a few times and have one major confrontation before they decide to reconcile during the thick of the alien conflict. I think they really should have given more time to properly settle the argument and fix their relationship.

I did enjoy the final confrontation with the aliens, but the epilogue that came after just didn't work for me. I typically appreciate an ending that subverts my expectations, but this somehow went a little too far.

Again, the majority of this movie is great, but its flaws manage to leave a bad taste in your mouth.
