RM Renner’s review published on Letterboxd:
The parts of the movie when Godzilla has assumed its traditional form and its traditional methods of destruction are great, but proto-Godzilla's first trip through Tokyo is just perfect.
A huge, strange, disgusting, ungainly creature pushes itself ashore on its belly, smashing buildings and disgorging hundreds of gallons of radioactive blood through red, raw gills as a bunch of shitty status- and protocol-obsessed wonks try to wrap their heads around the giant, aborted chicken-looking Black Swan fucking up their career prospects.
The thing finally slips back into the bay before they can marshal any meaningful response, but this ironically may have been for the best. When it returns, their aggressive approach to dealing with it only seems to make things worse.
