Nas and DMX read self-improvement books as the millennium approaches.
I think they ran out of money halfway through this movie because of all the insane lighting. Totally worth it. Such a delirious, disaster of a masterpiece. Reminds me a lot of Southland Tales in its apocalyptic vision of the new American millennium and how its auteur director was perhaps driven mad by it, or at the very least never got another bite of the apple. Klaus Kinski's "Loco" is one of the coldest, most ruthless villains of all time. One of the coldest endings of a movie ever presents an allegory for the extermination of the Left in Italy and as Alex Cox said the idea that you can "only take on the powerful and the wicked for a short while, it seemed, before they crushed you."
