Absurdly hilarious until it isn't and extremely poignant until it isn't, Jojo Rabbit walks such a precarious line in how it deals with such controversial subject matter that it can't help but feel a bit jarring at times, and yet the very idea that Taika Waititi was able to spin such an effectively heartwarming and indulgently silly story out of such a concept is in itself a miracle.
I could only wonder what Jojo Rabbit could have been had it ventured further into it's unique concept but what's on offer here is still a solid story full of wonderful performances - the young actors are certainly on top of their game and the supporting cast is full of heavyweights.
Not quite the slam dunk I could have hoped for, but nonetheless one of the more entertaining films all year.
