Brightburn ★★★

Doesn't quite live up to the potential of the concept, but an evil-superman coming-of-ager makes for an expectedly grim "what if" scenario. Someone that can lift a pickup truck with one hand is going to make mince meat of anyone that stands in the way (of his eye lasers). Hands are crushed, faces pureed, feelings are hurt, and as should be the case given what's proposed here, the outlook for a positive wrap up isn't great. It's a dark, brooding, disturbing film, folks. Whatever the things you anticipate as a result, you'll get in spades, framed with the shaky structure of shameless derivation and cliche.
