I can appreciate the statement that Shin Godzilla is making about the Japanese government which ultimately gives this film a purpose to exist after a lengthy 12-year hiatus, but boy is there A LOT of talking here for a monster movie! The new story about how Godzilla comes to be is a pretty interesting one as is the theory that he could even potentially grow wings which excites me about the future of this new evolving creature (because imagine THAT!!!). Ultimately, Godzilla may not have gotten enough screen time for my liking, but this is still a solid entry in this long-running series.
