Like most MCU movies (or are they episodes) I enjoy the setup but tend to checkout once the overdone CGI gravity-defying climax inevitably occurs. I do appreciate that there is more of a director's signature here. This is no doubt a Taika Waititi picture. His honoring of 1980's Flash Gordon is endearing. The humor is all encompassing and becomes quippy. While I admit to LOLing several times, I was annoyed at how unserious everything was despite an entire society at the risk of extinction. That brings me back to the climax. It's just not exciting. No real stakes or sense of danger which in turn dampers the magic of heroism. Hopefully the next Thor will have more heart. Given the title "Thor: Love and Thunder" I expect it will.
