AFI Fest 2021 - Red Carpet Premiere at TCL Chinese Theater

The Power of the Dog is only a western in its backdrop. It's so original for the genre that it honestly took me a bit of time to realize what kind of film this was trying to be, but once I did...oh boy.

This one has been on my radar for a little over a year, and it moved up on my watch list once it was nominated for an Academy Award. I wish I watched it sooner because it is absolutely brilliant. This film looks at the hypocrisy of the church while also showing what good it can do if in the hands of people who truly want to do what is right. Admittedly, I struggled to get a lot of the dialogue on this first watch BUT because of how fantastic the performances and directing are, I grasped the story and really enjoyed it. Spectacle on the largest scale that’s paired with a story that sucked me in from the opening frame. This movie really is something special. Go see it in IMAX.

    Don't Look Up

Quite possibly one of the worst films I’ve ever seen. Who the fuck is this for other than elitists who want to circle jerk each other for being right? Like duh, America sucks. Our politics accomplish nothing and the system we live in benefits the rich instead of the poor. We understand that. So, what does this film add to the conversation? Absolutely nothing. If this film was made for a conservative audience to try and convince them that we…
