For a film that could be written off as just another action film (however "cool"), I challenge you to find many action films with better (or more enjoyable) characterization of their main character before he logs his first kill. Rewatching this one only reinforces the reason this series has legs.
Still probably the most visually imaginative MCU film. Derrickson makes it hard to look away and outside of a couple of conveniences (and questions about how/when we get to use time to fix things), this is a very cool and unique entry into the MCU. Incredibly interested where it goes next.
Maybe it just caught me on the right night or maybe I just haven't gotten a lot of sleep lately so I was loopy, but this film hit all the right notes for me. The comedy was clever and given time and it came across as more thoughtful than many of the comedies I have seen lately.
I was cry laughing at one point. Jesse Plemons just keeps impressing me.
Yeah, it's not a great movie if you stop and think about it, but considering some of the negative critical consensus, I didn't expect to be as thoroughly entertained as I was for the entire duration of this film. Jupiter Ascending isn't an example of some of the conceptually deep sci-fi we have loved over the past few years, but it is a lot of the low-explanation sci-fi fun that genre fans can enjoy.
