Ran ★★★★½

Epic in every sense of the word!
The best Shakespearean adaptation to date!
Top Production, possibly Kurosawa's visually most beautiful film, a pleasure to watch. It is interesting that Kurosawa was beginning to lose sight at that time but despite this handicap he created perfections with shots (as Barry Lyndon, every time you pause, you feel like you're looking at a painting).
Kurosawa has for decades created authentic representations of feudal Japan, so even this film does not lack in that aspect . They haven't speared the extras and red paint, which is to say a "body count" is very high, the fight scenes are anthological.
Recommendation for lovers of historical pieces, bloody battles and generally for lovers of quality films.
