Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home ★★★★★

At this point, everyone knows that I'm completely, 100% in the bag for every MCU movie, so "reviewing" them seems kind of superfluous. That being said, I really loved this one. There's a real dynamism and freneticism to the filmmaking that feels more assured than Homecoming, with bigger and more precise setpieces. The way they use Mysterio in this universe and tie it all in with Endgame and the MCU at large is also really clever (and Gyllenhaal is absolutely aces). But, mostly, I really loved the character work and Peter's / Spider-Man's place in a post-Endgame world. Tom Holland is the best live action Spider-Man and his work here is really great, along with a deft supporting cast. It feels weird to be in a place where the future of the Avengers and the MCU isn't plainly laid out for the next several years, but Far from Home makes us believe that it's all going to work out.
