Kieran Westphal’s review published on Letterboxd:
There’s very little of Seven Samurai that still feels revolutionary 60+ years later; every element of its construction went on to inspire other filmmakers to iterate and clarify beyond what Kurosawa achieved in his time. However, that only makes it more impressive that this film is still so entertaining. Every technique for filming both the biggest action set pieces and the tightest emotional moments have grown beyond, but this film still endures.
plus, hey man, movies with an intermission are neat.
