Lake Mungo

Lake Mungo ★★★★

Subtlety and commitment go a long way. This is what makes Lake Mungo one of the best examples in the horror mockumentary subgenre. It feels like a real documentary from beginning to end, including its disturbing opening and end credits. Nothing truly scary per-se ever happens, yet there are some truly creepy images that keep you second guessing yourself. Are ghosts real? How much can we actually trust photography and videos? Definitely check this film out!

PS: Did anyone else notice the similarities with Twin Peaks? The girl named Palmer, premonitions, the lake... an homage, or pure coincidence?
