Nicolò Grasso’s review published on Letterboxd:
Original Title: Suspiria
Year of Release: 2018
Genres: Horror; Supernatural Thriller
Director: Luca Guadagnino
Writer: David Kajganich; Dario Argento, Daria Nicolodi (based on the original screenplay)
Main Cast: Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth, Tilda Swinton, Chloe Grace Moretz
The film is horror, but far from a commercial one: this is an auteur film made by someone who loves to sprinkle little clues during his films that are bound to left even the smartest and most awake of viewers confused by the end. If you are coming in expecting an exact replica of the original or a fun gory ride, look somewhere else. The film has gorgeous cinematography, with long shots, excellent use of focus, and great plays with mirrors and reflections. The music by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke is very eerie and effective, even though nowhere close what his fellow bandmember Greenwood has made over the years.
