I was not expecting to love this film, and yet to took me by surprise! A retelling of Romeo & Juliet that tackles interracial relationships and racism in America, the abuse of police force on minorities, and the fallout of the American Dream. Gorgeous cinematography makes the colorful sets and costumes explode on screen, and the excellent choreography and performances (Rita Moreno and George Chakiris stand out) are a joy to watch. Now I get the love for this film, and it deserves every Oscar it won!
Loved seeing young Benjamin Horne and Doctor Jacoby singing side by side.
