    Boogie Nights

Ranking every main(ish) character, in terms of their big dick energy:

    1. Rollergirl- A1 confidence to ride around on roller skates. And to keep them on at all times shows a ton of commitment. She is also just trying her best out here, and wants to get a better education, and to go through life receiving the respect she deserves. Which is most definitely big dick energy.

    2. Maurice T.T. Rodriguez
    - Everybody loves him, and he loves everybody. Extremely motivated to…

    Before Midnight

Revisiting Before Midnight after having done a deep dive into the filmography of Eric Rohmer, seriously begins to highlight the filmmakers similarities. Particularly in the “Before” series, and even more specifically in “Midnight”. There are certainly the direct references to The Green Ray, with the shot of Jessie and Celine watching the sunset. But there are also plenty of subtle references, and clear examples of Rohmer's influence on Linklater. Such as the group scene dynamic in Claire’s Knee.

    Blue Velvet

This is not only my first time rewatching Blue Velvet, but my first ever rewatch of a David Lynch movie. It will certainly not be my last of either. Blue Velvet is a movie that has only grown in my estimation has time as passed, and I was fortunate enough to have it mistakenly thrown into an order of mine from the Criterion Collection. They were nice enough to let me keep it. I loved this movie the first time,…

  • Night on Earth

    Night on Earth

A fascinating mixture of actors. From Winona Ryder, Giancarlo Esposito, and Rosie Perez, to Roberto Benigni and Gena Rowlands. A blend of incredible talent all at unique points in their careers, and literally everyone in this movie is phenomenal. Night on Earth is funny, interesting, but most of all, it’s human.

    One Night in Miami...

Sam Cooke is probably in my top 5 artists of all time. “A Change is Gonna Come” is in my opinion, one of the most perfect songs ever written, as is basically all of his music. As soon as I heard about this movie I couldn’t wait to see it. So much so that I stayed up until midnight just to watch it asap.

As soon as they got to the hotel, it really picked up and was especially incredible…

  • Stranger Than Paradise

    Stranger Than Paradise

67 single takes. That’s all this movie is. It’s 67 single takes broken up by brief moments of darkness, Within these takes, there is basically nothing of interest that happens. Which in and of itself is almost a trademark of the road genre. Stranger Than Paradise is a staple of it, and embodies the genre as well as any other.

This is somewhat irrelevant to the movie, but John Lurie has to be one of the most talented individuals to…
