I usually don't like mobster movies, but for some reason this is an exception. Who can say why. It's a mystery
The exposition is pretty weak. The antagonists are part of a vague yet somehow all-encompassing conspiracy that's infiltrated every level of government. Like, are they Hydra?
Anyway, once Angelina and the kid team up this gets more interesting, as they race to escape from a blazing inferno and two very determined bad guys.
Everything culminates in an epic showdown and a very "you look like hell" -- "i just got back" -- climax. It's then followed by some clunky dialogue (which plagues the whole movie) and a cheesy country song.
tl;dr this is a mixed bag but entertaining enough i guess
So contemplative, and the Gay Loneliness slaps you in the face. Sure, there's a literary/cinematic nostalgia to it, and a hint of the gleeful Fake Dating rom-com, but a Magical Happy Ending loses out to a messy, bold, imperfect painting of small-town teenage yearning.
I've stayed up late to watch this and I'm in my feelings.
