Abdulla Alsaleh’s review published on Letterboxd:
I’ve never listened to a Talking Heads song in my life. I knew that the band existed, but I never bothered to check them out before. That being said, I liked Stop Making Sense. The music itself was pretty good, and David Byrne brought a lot of energy to the concert. The editing and camerawork was pretty good, too, and not at all what I expected a concert movie to look like.
Despite all of this, I don’t get how Stop Making Sense is seen as a masterpiece. Tons of people here are saying that Stop Making Sense is “transcendent”, “hypnotic”, and even “drug-fueled”, but I didn’t see any of that. I saw it as a pretty good concert movie and not much else. I guess it’s probably because everyone here is a Talking Heads fan except me.
