Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian Rhapsody

There are many of their songs that you hold dearly in your heart but now, why do they all sound strangely unfamiliar?

Back stabs, betrayal and reconciliation. Flashes without styles nor substances. Some of the fans might have salivated over the songs that were vehemently played onscreen but little do they know how Bohemian Rhapsody manages to make Queen look like another by-the-number musical artists. Nothing about it stands out; nothing shines and not even Rami Malek’s effective impersonation could lift this movie above and beyond. Show after show, it's just an overlong Karaoke session. Thrust that hip, curl up that upper lip, swing that way, and sway this way. That was supposed to be the formula to success, right? Queen do not follow formulas. Queen would never conform to conventionality. Queen are and will always be eccentric…And yet why does Bohemian Rhapsody blindly drown itself in the shallowness of mediocrity? It plays out just as any safe, clean shaven PG-rated biopic with a formulaic equation of self-contentment. It was like witnessing the nefarious abuser, half-assed Bryan Singer shoving his middle finger right in our faces (fuck you dude), hideously laughing while forcing us to eat up his unfinished trash, you should love it because Freddie is a legend. Right? Right? What about the script that’s dramatized the whole Wikipedia page? Factual errors I can somehow overlook but the fact that this took home Best Drama over many other worthy contestants, I cannot forgive.
