Kyle’s review published on Letterboxd:
A horrowing depiction of war albeit one that is lacking in genuine connection to the onscreen characters. All quiet on the western front is already 140 minutes long so I understand why they sped through the meet and greet during the opening scenes but I ultimately think this was a misstep.
Beautifully shot to the point that even in its most chaoic moments it still presents such visual clarity but I can understand if anyone thought it was too polished for its genre. Me personally I appreciated the technical feat.
Everyone involved should be very proud because this is an excellent film and a strong illustration of war and its bleak meaningless nature.
