As a fan of Hereditary, I wanted to love this but I ended up just liking it. 

From a technical standpoint, it’s flawless. The dialogue is sharp, the performances are excellent and just like Hereditary, the films isn’t that scary but there’s something about the film that keeps you constantly on edge. 

However, Midsommar floats about for far too long with no real progression and the film never fully explores the themes it brings up. I spent the majority of the runtime questioning what the film was trying to say and it doesn’t become clear until the film’s final shot, which is a bit too much too late if I’m honest.
