this film was brutal and relentless, constantly depicting the western front in horrific detail until you feel as drained as the men on screen. 

This is now my Best Cinematography front runner and I think it should also be a contender for Best Sound. 

there was a 10-minute stretch at the end of the first act where the film’s pace crawled to a stumbling march and I thought I would get bored of it, but the film immediately turned it around and I would say the last 45 minutes are perfect. 

I have never experienced something like the end credits when no one stood up or went on their phones, we just sat in complete silence for 2 minutes straight, completely in awe and drained of all life

The score’s recurring theme serves as both a warning and reminder of war, and though cheesy at first, becomes so unnerving. 

I HIGHLY recommend seeing this in theaters before on Netflix.
