The late 90's had some of the bleakest crime films I've ever seen. The whole decade was like a hangover from the optimism of the 80s and it was great.
Sure this led to a load of imitations but some of them were actually pretty decent in their own right.
I've seen Solace which was meant to be a sequel (but thankfully wasn't) but have yet to see 8MM which again was almost a sequel (but instead opted for dropping Freeman's character and going with Nic Cage as the lead).
