FINALLY! THE FIRST ARAB NETFLIX ORIGINAL FILM! Any film that bothers people’s ”traditional” views is my favorite kind of film. Perfect Strangers definitely broke people’s mentalities and I loved every minute of it. A great film, a great laugh. Full of Lebanese warmth. 😌

My favorite scene in cinematic history is in the selfie scene and Fouad Yammine breaks character laughing and saying ”ayre bhal soura” w ”ra7 ybejj”

He definitely steals the show for me.

Diasporic stories like Flee is the reason why I studied film and why I do what I do.

The mix of animation and landscape photography of Lebanon was absolutely breathtaking. It took me into an extremely personal space for me.

This is one of the fewest films I can ever relate to that actually speaks my language, the language of love for my home country, the language of struggle for my home country, and the most importantly, the language of Lebanese nostalgia that was painted so flawlessly onto a short. I actually had to pause a couple of times and cry. I finally saw myself in a film and that is extremely rare.
