Quite a bit of lighthearted fun that doesn't take itself seriously...at all. In my opinion, Will Ferrell is hit or miss more recently. This film allowed him to play to his strengths (mainly his physical comedy and script delivery). Also, it is hard to not laugh at a giant American man sporting a Thor-like haircut and getting insulted by a dashing Pierce Brosnan. However, the true star here was Rachel McAdams, the ultimate Icelandic queen. She elevates the rest of the film by committing to the premise. Surprisingly, I also quite liked the musical numbers. Overall, it was a pleasant watch after a long day at work. It won't blow you away or do anything particularly great, but I dare you to not laugh or at least be amused.
