it was alright? sue me. every once and a while a film gets bad or underwhelming reviews and every critic on the internet joins in and decides to use all the witty insulting one liners they’ve been saving all year on that film. this time it just happened to be the goldfinch, which really wasn’t that poor of a film.

i haven’t read the book so i don’t have a full perspective but i was very interested in the themes and what all happened to theo in the first half. it has a lot to juggle from the book from what i’ve heard and it shows. they could have definitely cut certain things out to dig deeper on other parts instead but at the end of the day i did find the first half with little theo fairly moving despite the mess.
