larsons’s review published on Letterboxd:
wanted to love this but left the theaters feeling mostly confused and a little disappointed. i understand what peele wanted to address in terms of spectacularization + commodification of violence and trauma at the expense of empathy and connection, the “the more you look at it, the hungrier it gets” characterization of the entertainment industry—i’m just not sure i fully clicked with how he chose to do it. definitely want to give this a rewatch though, i think i might click with it more after i’ve had a chance to sit on its themes
