Holy shit this was fun. I really didn't expect it to be this entertaining. The first two Thor films were pretty bad, so this is a really great surprise. The first two films were just way too serious and englobed in darkness. While Thor: Ragnarok also has a somewhat sinister premise, it dumps the serious side of the story and instead takes a more comedic approach to the film. That has Taika Waititi's signature all over, especially when it comes to the humour. I don't think all the jokes actually work, and some even become kind of predictable, but when they do work, it's pretty fun! Waititi also shows he can directs a blockbuster. I usually am bored to death during Marvel's big action sequences, but here they're colourful, well edited and really fun. I also think this film might be the best looking of the MCU. It's so colourful and fun to look at. The whole cast is also pretty good. I particularly loved Tessa Thompson. Anyway, I kind of want to give it 4 stars, but I have no clue if it will hold up on a re-watch. Thor: Ragnarok is by no means perfect and bears similar beats to most Marvel movies; but the ride is just too wild and fun to crucify the film for its flaws.
