Quelle belle pièce de cinéma! I am tempted to write about this masterpiece en français to maintain the spirit, but I shall refrain for the sake of my already meager audience, lol.
I was completely awestruck by this film’s captivating simplicity and by the wonderfully nuanced performances from both of the leads— the emotion in their expressions tells the whole story and more. Not to mention that closing shot: breathtaking! I also loved the motif of Orpheus and Eurydice, the music, and the details in the paintings! I only wish there had been more time for the relationship to unfold, if without the maid’s side plot and sometimes uneven pacing, but I suppose such is the fleeting nature of this love story. Simplement parfait!
