Alex Leonce’s review published on Letterboxd:
The Jason Takes Manhattan joke...absolutely god-tier.
Better than 5Cream (I do like it), and despite the underwhelming reveal and some unbelievable close calls, Scream VI is loads of gory, meta fun the franchise is known for.
Barrera fares better here than 5, with her character development continuing to tease a path. Good or not, who knows? Brown and Gooding Jr. are still a blast as the Meeks twins, moreso the latter with his charisma, and Ortega is yet again the standout. The new additions are good enough (YAY to the Radio Silence reunion between Samara Weaving and Henry Czerny).
Okay, returning OG cast of Courtney Cox and Hayden Panettiere. Yes, it sucks that Neve Campbell didn't return, but the film fares well on its own without her. They could always bring her back for VII. Cox is solid as always, balancing the humour and dramatic beats, and Panettiere is my second standout (right next to Gooding Jr). She's still likably charming from Scream 4 and engaging.
That's all I can really say without spoilers. Enjoyable and sure to be a huge box office hit.
