Blue Velvet

Blue Velvet ★★★★

David Lynch: fucking up the American Dream since 1966.

I'm gonna keep this one short 'cause I'm kind of tired after the four films I did yesterday, but all I really need to say is this:
Not Lynch's best film, but certainly a very entertaining effort with some beautiful twists on the noir-genre and featuring some prrrrrretty nice performances by Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini and the ever crazy Dennis Hopper. The whole theme of the film, love conquering evil, is portrayed in true Lynchian fashion albeit a bit toned down. I mean, Lynch has been weirder; this film is pretty straightforward. Nonetheless, some great use of symbolics as usual and a killer score to drive home the incredible breaking of the genre I mentioned earlier.
So yeah, four stars, nice, nice, nice. Looking forward to the next one.
