My third watch and I only love it more and more! I believe this film presents one of the most thorough understandings of love ever put on screen. And on top of that, it has an uncompromisingly true vision of the toxic imbalance that can exist between a person's art and their love life.

Also, major lolz to anybody who doesn't buy into the romance between Reynolds and Alma because the whole point is their conflict 🙃 Love rarely is the snap-your-fingers magic that films usually give us. It is something mightily complex, a search for compromises and ways to make things work. It's a continuous coin toss between taking care and being taken care of and that is exactly what Phantom Thread shows. Pure cinematic gold and nothing less.
