    La La Land

    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

    Hello Letterboxd friends, πŸ‘‹

My name is Arlene (she/her) and I love to watch movies. Thanks for checking out this list! πŸ˜†

One of my all-time favourite films is La La Land. It sums up all of my favourite types of films: musicals, romance, and ones that make me feel all types of ways. It also reminds me of the modern day Umbrellas of Cherbourg. β˜”οΈ

I’ll try to add films that I’ve actually seen but also relate to each fact I post in this list :)

    What If

    β˜…β˜…β˜…

I’m Canadian and my home is in Toronto (area). πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦

What If was not only filmed in Toronto but the storyline is based there too! There are so many films/tv shows that are filmed here but represent a different city in the storyline lol.

Also proud to live by the city that hosts the TIFF (Toronto International Film Festival) every September which always falls on my birthday. What an exciting time to look forward to every year! πŸŽ₯

    Dazed and Confused

I chose Dazed and Confused because although it is based in the 70’s, it was released in the 90’s which is the decade I was born in β€” and not because of the movie title πŸ˜‚ Who doesn’t love a Richard Linklater movie though!?

I have a twin! Not an identical twin like in The Parent Trap, but I have a twin brother who’s my bestest friend and I love to watch movies with him. He was also the one who introduced me to Letterboxd. <:O)

  • The Bourne Legacy

    The Bourne Legacy

The Bourne Legacy is probably the only film I’ve seen that’s set in Manila, Philippines which is where my parents are from. I definitely miss it there but unfortunately can’t speak the language 😳

  • Robin Hood

    Robin Hood

I studied abroad in Nottingham, England for a semester and Robin Hood (2018) released during my time living there which was so fitting! πŸ˜†

  • Midnight in Paris

    Midnight in Paris

    β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Midnight in Paris is another of my all-time favourite films even though yes, it’s a Woody Allen film. There wasn’t a film that I could relate to more with my love for the past and travelling. My golden age of nostalgia is 1960’s or 1890’s London, and Paris is one of my favourite cities I’ve traveled to 3 times so far!

Also where I was introduced to the wonderful Tom Hiddleston 😍

Another all-time favourite of mine: The Sound of Music. Not only do I love musicals but I also love old/classic films. Especially films set in the past (in this case, WWII) and period pieces!
