I’m a very causal listener of Queen - some songs I absolutely adore while others can really grate if I’m not in the right mood. But I came out of this on a complete Queen high and wanting to go on a complete binge of the band’s music and learn more about Freddie.
I can’t comment on the accuray of the film as I’m not knowledgeable when it comes to the group’s history, but I will say that its biggest weakness for me is the script and overall the film is adequate. But the story is engaging throughout and the stand out moments are the performances where Rami Malek absolutely shines; it’s spooky how similar he is to Freddie in some shots.
I had a great time in the cinema seeing this which makes me forgive its flaws, and it’d be criminal to not experience Bohemian Rhapsody on the big screen with a great sound system!
