Liam Hathaway’s review published on Letterboxd:
Modest yet extravagant, formulaic yet offbeat. Hunt for the Wilderpeople matched my expectations as an uncommonly rewarding coming-of-age/unconventional buddy comedy that never sees a dull moment pass. In the same unsentimental manner he delivered his exceptional work, Boy, Waititi evokes genuine pathos and humour without ever being cloying. His singular approach allows for a certain unrestraint to permeate via the film's stylistic playfulness seen in its composition, performances and witty pop culture references; subsequently, the film feels free in a way so many of a similar ilk are unable to. I don't feel that I've been able to fully articulate how much I liked this film, so I'll just end by saying it's truly "majestical".
