I always get quite nervous whenever I show movies with gay themes to my mother, usually out of fear that she might (vocally) start questioning my own sexuality, but in the end I am always glad that I did. See, to me, the beautiful and touching thing about representation isn't necessarily being able to see yourself on screen. It's rather the knowledge that whoever you are seeing the movie with, is able to see you too.
