Been hearing great things about Good Manners, the new film by these directors. So I'm happy that Mubi (Canada) has this film streaming so I could check it out their debut before taking on Good Manners.
Hard Labor is described as a horror film but it really isn't. It's social commentary in a slow burn thriller package. There's some mystery and classic horror movie devices but these are presented as allegory... don't expect horror. All together, an interesting take on (from what I can decipher) the recession and class relations in Brazil... and shot on 16mm to boot.
