Wild at Heart

Wild at Heart ★★★★★

Lynch’s most coherent musing, it was undoubtedly his most moving film and the one that resonated most personally with me. It’s all thanks to Dern, who portrays PTSD as a result of sexual assault with frightening realism. The Wizard of Oz analogy is sublime, and her tapping of the red shoes made me burst into tears - it’s a feeling I know all to well. It’s also hilarious - Dern isn’t pulled down by her trauma, she overcomes it and loves life. I really want to write at length on this, and perhaps once it’s sunk in, I will.
