This movie is hella cute and I forgot about it!! I feel like I’m 10 again
I’ve seen this film a number of times, and though it’s definitely cheesier now (I mean, it is geared towards 15 year olds), its central messages, themes, and emotions still hold up. America Ferrera’s Carmen is heartbreaking and holds the whole film together, really grounding it. Still one of the best “teen/friendship” movies out there.
Green Book tells the story of an Italian- American thug from the Bronx and an African- American pianist and triple PHD. The landscape of the rural Midwest and south serve as a beautiful backdrop for a feel-good story. A racist man set in his ways develops a life long friendship in a time where that was not socially acceptable. A masterpiece of an adaptation. Absolute. Perfection.
Everyone was perfectly cast, the costumes were wonderful, the arc of the story was strong, and the direction was excellent.
Gerwig strikes again— one of the greatest new directors of our time. Saoirse Ronan is well on her way to becoming a legendary actor of our generation.
