A Cinderella Story: Once Upon a Song (2011) could never!
Watching Singin' in the Rain was definitely a jolly great time for me; however, I did notice some problematic issues when it comes to the film's misogynistic and sexist depiction and treatment of its only two women characters that obviously stems from the patriarchal mindset. I mean, duh, it's a 50s film set in the 20s after all! Nonetheless, I laughed and I cheered and whenever a musical number pops up, I just want to break into song and dance too!
PS. Broadway Melody was too long.
PPS. Despite her questionable actions, I still sympathize with Lina Lamont because she's also a victim too -- more specifically, a victim from the patriarchal Hollywood. I think she deserves better than being a one-dimensional character that gets vilified at the end.
