The Holy Mountain

The Holy Mountain ★★½

Really, it's not an easy film to digest and it's not recommended for all kinds of audiences. It took me a few hours myself to formulate my opinion and I still have no idea what I watched. In the first few minutes, I was still trying to understand what those symbolisms meant, I noticed that it had a lot of biblical references (the protagonist himself already has an image similar to Jesus). Some allegories are easier to understand right away, but from the second act onwards, things get more and more bizarre and I just gave up trying to understand. Visually speaking, it's all very well done and the scenarios help in the immersion of this crazy universe. But overall, I found the film disgusting, tiring and uncomfortable (especially because of the animal deaths), it gave me a heavy vibe.
