I don’t know the better representation and visualization of memory as a space and dwelling in this space of memory, falling into it and losing connections with reality. Despite it steps a lot from Stanislav Lem’s book, the images of Space and space exploitation become really accurate visuals of attempts to understand our soul, inner world and mind. Traveling to space and longing for Earth there provoke associations with feelings of longing for home and in general and our inability to return to past.

Good accompanying documentary to Nostalgia, that gives a brief overview of Tarkovsky’s principles of making cinema and towards the art. The sunny scenes are really contrast with what we see in Nostalgia, and we can actually follow the development of ideas and spot how the outcome was made from completely the opposite. Some motives that appear in 1983 film grow their roots from the discussions that are presented in this documentary. Really recommend as commentary or a source that gives more context towards Nostalgia
