this was more entertaining and a lot more comical than i'd expected. French people seem to be able to do anything while riding on a motorbike: take a nap, pour your friend some wine, change a roll of film, and put some fancy cheese on a baguette. i liked the dry humor in the narration. and the way he used music in this, how it appropriately changed depending on the terrain and what leg of the tour they were on. it was a delight to watch this with my morning coffee

For some reason I wasn't sure how much I liked this film the first time I watched it back in 2014. Not sure what I was thinking then. I certainly got a lot more out of it the second time around. There are so many details to notice.  I also didn't have much context, as somehow at the time I hadn't seen any of Bong Joon-Ho's other films. Now that more people know about him, and the fact that "late capitalist hellscape" became a common phrase used in 2020, I sure hope that more people will appreciate this incredible and wildly entertaining film.
