Oli’s review published on Letterboxd:
This was the last film I saw in the cinemas before they closed and the first film I saw when they reopened.
This was my favourite movie of last year and deserves all the praise it gets. It’s a perfect social commentary on class systems, and acts as a satire for life in South Korea.
The way this film reels you in is really incredible, the false sense of security is phenomenal. It is a comedy for the majority, and funnier than people give it credit for, but the twist completely flips Parasite on its head.
I think I appreciated this movie far more the second time around. There were scenes where I was watching just smiling because of how good it really was.
The sequence in which the Kim’s attempt to get the Park’s housemaid fired with the peach is absolute perfection. The same with the ending at Da-song’s party.
I could watch this over and over and really can’t recommend it enough. Easily one of the best films I’ve seen over the past decade.
